We are pleased to announce the launch of our company with the intent of supplying products and services related to the wind industry. At Lotus Creative Innovations, our goal is to innovate not imitate.
We have been involved in R&D in the renewable energy field for a while now. We believe our product meets the needs of the education sector in wind energy with our scale model wind turbine trainer. It's better than the real thing!!!
This scale model of a wind turbine can be used to teach commercial wind energy technology from O&M technical to engineering programs. Dynamic and interactive tool for any alternative energy training and showing support for renewable energy.

Third prototype of model wind turbine was demonstrated at AWEA 2009 in Chicago,IL. Scheduled release of Green Turbine is spring 2011. Expo Flyer "Green Turbine" This is a truly “green” demonstration model. This scale model of a wind turbine was built with mostly reused parts from previous projects, some online surplus motors as well as scrap from junkyards. The total approximate cost was about $500, a fraction of the cost to exhibit this at the AWEA expo. This scale model turbine demonstrates the basic components and functions of a commercial wind turbine. The model has a fully functioning yaw and blade pitch system. The use of slip rings allows the turbine to yaw in either direction endlessly without binding. The blade pitch system is a 360 degree type. The blades are a true basic airfoil design and will catch wind and turn the main shaft in either direction depending on the blade pitch. The generator/gearbox is wired to turn the main shaft in counterclockwise direction for the demonstration. The demonstration includes a wireless camera mounted on top of the rear main shaft bearing looking into the hub. This is a view that only wind turbine technicians will have seen until now. There are times when the turbine is set to run while technicians are still in the top part of the turbine called the “nacelle”. As the blades catch wind there is a torque produced which spins the hub and main shaft, through a gearbox and finally to the generator. There are thousands of pounds of rotating mass which is a site to see on the rare occasion that calls for it. The tools list includes a drill press, cordless drill, jigsaw and soldering iron. These are not the ideal tools to use to build a product. Most of the expo demonstrations were built using a lathe, mill, and CNC equipment and a whole team of engineers and designers. This demonstration model shows what one can do with very little funds and equipment, and a lot of practical know how. |
